Lifeofart - some advice please.
I've been trying to find the "brochure wizard" (specifically the flexible page/quadrant location feature) that you talked about in MS Word (I have the latest version and updates). I would find it very useful, but can't locate it. Can you tell me how to find it?
Well to be honest I was referring to the windows version of Word. I use Office 2003 on Windows and Office 2004 for Mac. I am not sure if the Mac version of word has the same plug-ins.
On the windows version. Go to file -> new and select the publishing tab. From there select Brochure. It will fire up the wizard and template if you have these options loaded.

Presumably there'll be a cheaper version with faux polyurethane?

I don't feel like reading through 6 pages of comments but, I can attest that most retail stores will tell you to call the cops but not get involved. I've never worked fast food but have been told that from working in a drug store for several years.
At the same time, however, some common sense is needed. I'm pretty sure if I was in this situation, policy or not, I'd be stopping them. This isn't like one little slap and some yelling, this is a brutal assault. For that matter, I get the feeling that the person taking the video isn't an employee, just a hunch. If so, why the hell didn't they think to do anything but pull out their damn cell phone and video tape it? For that matter, they were laughing at one point which is just downright heartless.

Looks like I had the wolf roles backwards. Oh well. I'll be watching to see if my prediction holds up. :D

Microsoft is denying it is true. Being that they need the record labels to sign off on their music store, I doubt they'd infringe on already set licenses and risk a music business revolt.

They just walked by and said that they don't have quantities. They can't open their stock until they close the store at 3pm.

One of the biggest moments in the World's history, not only America. Osama Bin Laden, the number 1 most wanted terrorist is finally dead.
I guess this proves everyone who doubted America and might have lost faith, that yes America can. Looks like Obama will be getting a 2nd term now.
I always knew it would be Obama vs Osama once he was elected. Very proud day for everyone who believes in peace.
Now, it's the Pakistan government which is in question, looks like Osama was chilling at a Pakistan Military hub for 6 years under the protection of Pakistan. And they said Osama wasn't in Pakistan lol.. he was living it large in a mansion and people thought he was in a cave.
Short-term wise, i'm worried about the retaliation of the terrorists. Looks like everyone will be on edge for the next few months. Also, i'm afraid more and more people might decide to take up Osama's old position as leader.
The war on terror isn't over, but this has definitely struck a very significant blow.
Some bird tweeted to me that his death was like a "BOOM HEADSHOT!"
Gee, thanks - this will make my friends who are loosing their homes to foreclosure feel a whole lot better...

Just a note. If you look at the average of the average time between updates you discover that there are, amongst all the products, a 192 days period between updates.
Currently only 177 days have passed since the last update to the MBP. Oct 26 would be Mac Expo in the UK. If they anounced then (185 days) and shipped one week later they would be at the average (192 exactly).
Also noting that major US and Euro retailers are out of stock or low on stock is also a fairly good indicator.
Finally, I think it would be pretty damn sad if after 192 days of updating they merely give us a .16 processor upgrade...

Mac OS X is so stable that I am perfectly comfortable working for an hour in between saving my open files. If I was likely to run into websites that purposely exploited a flaw to crash my Mac, I'd have to change my habits and live more defensively.
Excellent point.
If you use a notebook or a desktop with a UPS, it can be extremely easy to forget about the fact that reboots may happen at any time, even without fautly software getting in the way. (Lately in Nova Scotia, the culprit has been "salty fog" invading our power substations...) Obviously this is a bug that can cause loss of work (and thus loss of money). And obviously the ultimate solution must be a more graceful failure response by the OS.
But a good stopgap measure to protect from the only potential damage which can so far be demonstrated to potentially come from this vulnerability, would be to enable the autosave feature of your software. That measure requires a one-time investment of effort on your part, and subsequently shouldn't have any effect on your work habits. I have never used any reputable productivity software which didn't have an autosave feature.

Well. You have answered my questions and thank you for that.
This is all the argument that I could ever hear from my colleagues who are not pro-apple or are anti-apple.
This is what you would here from an android fanboy as well.
I really like android. The reason I have Nexus S; though I was forced to some extent.
For me, there's no way for an android phone over an iPhone. In the US? Yes due to carrier interference but not otherwise.
OK? :D
Yes, can't really comment on non-US stuff. I'm sure overseas that the carriers are better, regarding updates, etc. At least that's what I hear...

Just ordered mine, can't wait as my 2008 model is starting to struggle, especially with some of the photo editing software that plugs in to Photoshop, and Premiere Pro CS5 dies a death when trying to do anything remotely exciting!
3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
2TB Serial ATA Drive
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5
Apple Magic Mouse
Apple Wireless Keyboard
As with Zomberunner, I will upgrade memory to 16GB at a later date from Crucial.

You both need to calm down. One of you wants flash, the other could do without. We get it.
And by the way Apple is under no obligation to offer you Flash or anything else for that matter, you knew before your purchase that Safari would never support Flash, consider yourself fortunate that Skyfire exists.
On topic, I wonder if the ipad app will be any different? Perhaps they can embed the video in the website so it takes the place of the original flash content?

aswitcher, could you explain a bit more to me what you mean by
"802.11n pending firmware upgrade..." since you're the first to mention this at all? Does anyone know if this new MBP will have 802.11n at all (for the iTV)?

It seems to me that Apple play games with their users, just a little bit.
Unless I'm mistaken, 1st gen MBP had 7200 HD option but no FW800.
This time the FW800 gets put back but the 7200 option is taken away, with the moral being "buy a 17" if you need both of these features">
I'm the same as one of the previous posters, for my audio app (Ableton Live) there's no way I'd splash that sort of cash on a MBP with a 5400 drive.
Oh well, if my PB gives up the ghost, I'll have to tgo for a 17" (which I don't wwant to do) or buy a PC. Failing that, Im a-waiting for Santa Rosa.

One thing that is buried in all of this is that Apple is FINALLY offering a magsafe airline power adaptor for their laptops, for $59.00. I have been doing a ton of cross-country flying recently, and carting two batteries to try to keep my laptop juiced up on the trip. I have waited for months for an in-flight power solution. Apple has finally come through with this! :D
I could have used this this past summer. Took forever to come out.

I dont know what people see in the Mighty Mouse, I tried one out in a local computer shop and found it VERY frustrating to use.
same here, but i expect they'll make improvements. i'll probably get one if i end up with a proper desk.
13 days, 17 hours, and 23 minutes until we find out exactly what they've done with this thing.

Did they really tell you to use the Shopping Cart feature in iTunes? Because since iTunes 9 this feature is gone now! The documentation you/Apple quoted is depricated unless your still using a pre iTunes 9 version.
I miss shopping cart, but it is still around - called wish list now. Click on the drop down arrow next to the file you want to DL and click "add to wish list." Not sure if it works like this on the iPhone OS though...

Yes, it seems like a Microsoft thing.

I can't seem to get the VMWare Tools to install after the "Guest" OS has loaded. I select "Install VMWare Tools" from the Menubar but nothing happens.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?
The "Install VMWare Tools" botton is miss labled. It does not install them. What it does is replace your CDROM with an image file. Try thse steps:
1) click "Install VMWare Tools"
2) Go inside your guest OS and look at the CDROM drive.
3) From Inside the OS install what you find on the CDROM.
4) Re-boot the guest OS.
