People have had similar worries about the RDIF (radio frequency identification) tags used in passports, subways, and which stores may use to manage inventory. Many of us are walking around with data on us that can be scanned or with information being transmitted from our gadgets.
Most people don't seem to be worried about this type of problem. And even if they were made aware of the small potential risk, they might still choose convenience -- being easy to identify and track when they want it to be easy -- over privacy and safety concerns.
Meanwhile, if researchers regularly point out potential flaws, manufacturers may think a little bit harder about privacy concerns.
Blah, there is no flaw. My 802.11b card transmits its MAC address on a broadcast when its on. My phone transmits its SIM card number. Its a hell of a lot easier to modify those than the iPod. This is just a case of get your name out there so others will hire you as a security consultant or engineer of sorts.
Don't want it to transmit all the time? Turn it off when its not in use.
Do you know how many of those suckers would have to be placed to track a jogger running thru Central Park? maybe hundreds easily if they are limited to 60ft. The cost would be huge, pay off little.
Answer is simple: Use radio direction finding or GPS tracking. Easier. Cheaper for anyone who leaves their house. More accurate. More Flexible. Used by wildlife researchers to police to spy agencies, its proven to work effectively.
If you watch the video on CNN, the person practically has to be walking by the researcher for them to detect them. Totally worthless.

Has anyone else noticed its resemblance to the Remote/FM Radio for the 5G iPod...

It can certainly be a secular democracy, where the Muslims, Christians (yes there are Christian Palestinians as well) and Jews live together. it doesn't necessarily have to be a Muslim state.
That would be awesome, but if muslims are the majority, i have a bad feeling about what they will turn the country into. It would likely become a muslim state, and israel would not be able to remain secular.
I have long believed that a secular, unitary state is the only right solution for Palestine. It can happen.
Yeah, because muslims have a great track record when it comes to running their own countries. Of course there are a few exceptions, but they usually have a difficult time separating religion from politics. Islam isn't just a religion, its a political ideology for many of them. If the palestinians were mostly christian, this situation wouldn't be going on right now. The whole problem is the fact that they are muslim.

Steve goes by Costanza's theory: "Remember, it's not a lie if you believe it."
Kind of like Nixon/Frost..
David Frost: Are you really saying the President can do something illegal?
Richard Nixon: I'm saying that when the President does it, it's *not* illegal!

There is only one "viewer" now, which swaps between showing the timeline or editing clips. In the left side panel, you can choose clips, and they appear in the single viewer. Then when you drag them into the timeline, the viewer switches to timeline playback.
I think that this makes a lot of sense, as you would not use the viewer and the timeline playback at the same time anyway, so why not let it switch automatically between then two, saving space.
I get that, but I need to compare frames side-by-side at times to ensure they're going to flow together. I love space-saving UI but I'm not sure that this one is going to pan out for me. I see a keystroke to quickly switch between the two in my future...

Also, keep in mind that it's very difficult for the power supply from power plants to ramp up and down to meet demand, and as such, a lot of energy has to be burned off and wasted at night when demand is low. That's why some places charge a lot less for electricity at night. If most people use their car to get to work and simply charge up for 8 hours while they sleep, the overall emissions per kWh are reduced, and the numbers swing more in the favour of plug-in vehicles.
Yes, and one more thing. Once you have many cars plugged into a company suplies charger at work the company knows the cars will not leave until (say) 5:30pm so they can use there charger farm to remove power from the batteries durring peak times and then put it back before 5:30pm. If demand on the grid is "peaky" cars can can actually help with supply.
Also, there are many people (like me) waiting for these batteries to need to be replaced. I'll buy the old ones and place them in a big warehouse and buy power at night and sell it back durring the day. Used batteries should be cheap in 10 to 15 years.
Electric power is a comodity who price goes up and down predictably. Should be way-easy to make money. Just think if you knew the price of gold would dip in 6 hours then go back up in 12. Batteries should allow the average price paid for power to go down.

The page-curl looks dumb to me. I organise all my photos within the finder, pasting sample pictures onto folder icons, etc, to create a visual representation of the photos/folders/files inside. For me, it's a great way of organising thousands of photos across a few dozen main folders.
Apple killed the beauty of this method with 10.4.4, when JPEG icons started to be rendered as ugly pixellated images with black borders. As far as I can tell this problem has not been addressed. So, I'm still running 10.4.3. If this page-curl materialises, and I have to use it, it will piss me off no end. It is completely pointless.
What they really need to do in Leopard is revolutionise the finder. The current version is slow, disorganised, unpredictable, and confusing.
Or better still, bring back a Aqua-skinned version of the visual Finder of OS 9: The visual navigation through nested folders is what got me hooked on the Mac!

You don't get it. In 2010 they presented iOS 4 in april and released soon after WWDC. Now they say that at WWDC they are going to present the "FUTURE" of iOS.
So they definitely will not release iOS 5 at WWDC.

I think the price is the biggest issue, did they not think we would think it should be at least as cheap if not cheaper than print. Hmm Why is this not flying?? Greed!! I hope they read these posts

BTW -- anyone want to buy a bridge in NY? Great location, fantastic price!
If you're referring to the Brooklyn Bridge, you can't sell it. It's MINE.:p My great-great-great-great grandpappy brought it off some chap name George Parker. I also own Ulysses S Grant's Tomb if anyone is interested in taking it off my hands. Yep, G5-pappy brought it off Parker as well.:D:D:D
And the US still incarcerates more people that China.
No need to imprison dead people. Back during the imperial age, the whole clan would have been executed. Maybe in a few more centuries, they'll fit the punishment to the crime.

If you have to ask, then the answer is probably no.
I thought it was supposed to be easier to use and one didn't have to be a pro to use it.

I think thats a bit dark for Apple. The only black Macs they've had are the black MacBook and the black powermac.
Maybe Apple is going towards the "DARK SIDE"
They recently changed their website menu bar to Liquid Metal Black:

I agree with you. I went from 10.(1) to 10.3 and found a HUGE improvement. When I went to Tiger, it just got better. Better connectivity for wireless and talking to other computers. Trying to get the Mac networked to Windows was a headache, with Panther, it was easier, Tiger got it to the point where you didnt have to do much at all!
Now though, I can see some parts of Tiger's flaws. You get the impression theres a hole somewhere, but that said, its ALOT more stable than the other OSX releases. (In my experience anyway)
I've owned wvery version of OS X including OS X Beta. But I did not use OS X on a daily basis until version 10.2. Until then, in my opinion, OS X was not ready for prime time use.
Now I'm running OS 10.4.8 on my Intel Mac Pro. There's still several things missing in OS X when compared with OS 9. But everything is more stable. I've had several kernel panics plus countless system lockups. Also many programs will freeze & have to be force quit to free things up. Mac OS 10.4.8 is much more stable on my MDD G4 PowerMac & 17" G4 PowerBook. It seems like Mac OS 10.4.6 started out with the Intel Macs, with 10.4.7 installed on my Intel Mac Pro.
Mac OS 10.5 should make a bigger difference to the Intel Mac than the PPC Macs. Having several PPC Macs & only 1 Intel Mac, I hope that Apple continues developing the Mac OS for the PPC Macs. I wonder how long it is before Steve Jobs declares the PPC Mac dead & says like he did for OS 9 that no more development will come.
