After putting a new HD in my iBook and reinstalling OS X 10.4.2 - iBook edition, I can tell you disc 2 is required and cannot be bypassed.

I think most people wanting to game should go for a console instead.. But then again you can download emulators & games and run it on your iphone or ipad, but obviously not legal as far as I know.. But It can be done..
I think Nintendo better watch out :P. Still I think the fact that the new Nintendo DS has 3D support means it's probably going to be a better gaming experience then a iPhone or iPod Touch..
The games that are available on iOS devices are not of the highest quality, infact most of the games are crap, IMO.. I've tried FPS shooters, the experience just isn't the same, some games are awesome for iOS particularly racing games & games that take advantage of the gyro..
But in all honesty I haven't seen a game yet on iOS that really blew me away, so as far as gaming goes I think getting a console is the better choice..

I don't own one but I have thought about picking one up to try out that UFC Trainer game. It seems like it would be a good workout.
Just take a good look at the reviews for how well the system picks up your body movements. My gf got "The Biggest Loser" game which I advised against cause of the reviews, but sure enough, the Kinect doesn't see your movements when you're on the ground very well (amongst a number of interface flaws). And thus, the game got used one time, and one time only.

You missed the entire point.
If you are going to say that you know it is the phone over the carrier, you have to be able to have experienced other phones on that carrier to see if they have the same issues (Therefore it can't be the phone cause different phones still have the same issues) or you have to have used the same phone on Verizon and witnessed that the phone didn't have the same problems on Verizon.
Your experience had you using a different phone on Verizon than on AT&T and your only experience with AT&T being the iphone. Therefore the problem could be either the iphone or AT&T cause you have no basis of comparison to be able to pinpoint which is the problem!
And your experience with "other carriers" says nothing about AT&T (odd that you don't say they are experiences with AT&T... )
Didn't miss the point at all.
I've stood in several locations and observed Verizon phones make calls and non-verizon have no signal. Smart phone or not.
The carrier was the difference. Verizon is much better than other carriers in rural areas and low signal areas such as my basement office. Lots of people around this office with different model phones and carriers to observe.
Oh and I'm including ATT in "other carriers". So that is cleared up. ATT does not do as well as Verizon in rural areas and certain specific urban areas.
But if you live in an area with good ATT signal then no problem.
By the way I'm taking my free coupon into ATT this week to get the microcell. The reason being my home gets poor ATT signal. This wasn't the case with Verizon. More proof for you.
Overall my experience with ATT is good. I get by. I'm not bashing them. Just stating the facts. There are certain areas where I do miss having Verizon though.

A lot of the time stories are given negative ratings for absolute no reason and the ratings don't serve their purpose very well. I personally think either the ratings system should be removed all together or there should only be a "like"/"positive" option.

I must speak about the graphic Cards Apple takes for its Product line. Thats a Point I misslike !!!
PM
low --> Geforce 4 MX
middle --> Radeon 9000 PRO
high --> Radeon 9000 PRO
These Cards are too bad for the Power Mac Line.
Look a Geforce 4 Ti4200 very good card has nearly the same Price like the Radeon 9000 Pro and the Gf4 Ti4200 is Faster !!!
And I dont can understand how you can build a card like the Radeon 9000 in THE HIGH END ?!?!?
These would be good and serious !
low --> Radeon 9000 PRO
middle --> Geforce 4 Ti 4200
high --> Geforce 4 Ti 4400 or 4600
Ti books are very Good !
iBook needs a Bump on graphic power (by the way)
And the iMac I think also need more power in graphic, when the next update of the iMac will still have a Gf2 I will laugh because noobody uses this cards more ( on the market) and the have no power !
Apple has a Big alliance with Nvidia much of you also think that there will be a Nforce Board for the Power Mac, so why not Simple use the things which Nvidia is very famous and good ???
Yes graphic acceleratetors !
By the way you can take MSI Geforce Cards and make a Flash rom and have a full Mac Geforce card for half the price !?!?
So the cards are not expensive in production and its not much work to put this cards in the Mac ! So why there are no good cards like the Geforce4 Ti4200 or 4400 for the Mac user ???
:mad:

If I were an MS shareholder, I would be OUTRAGED.
How much did they pay for that? To be fair, I don't recall if MS bought just VPC or all of Connectix, but it hardly matters!
That's got to be a giant pile of shareholder wealth pissed away in a half-assed attempt at being part of (read: smothering) the increasing popularity and utility of Apple.
I would really love to see the numbers on that boondogle.
:rolleyes:
Additionally:
Yes, Parallels and VMware are better products, but that is not the point. Has no one else noticed the number of products Microsoft is canceling for the Mac. I do not believe that Microsoft sees a market for the Macintosh. This of course is purely a business perspective.
I for one think Apple will be taught a lesson in respect. The only logical solution is to kill off Mac Office universal binary support. If they want to run on the Intel platform, they can run on emulation.
It would not be much of a loss if Microsoft decided to pull the plug. Don't think they haven't taught about it. A three percent market share or 19 million desktop users does not even come close to the numbers that still use Windows 2000, never mind Windows 98. I of course don't wish this to happen, but it is one logical outcome.
I actually think that MS will eventually be taught the lesson. Unfortunately for MS, federal antitrust law states that you can't use your power in one market to gain power in a different market.
At first glance to me, killing Office for Mac is probably a violation, since I think that the operation is, in itself, profitable. After all, the "at cost" price for Mac Office that MS charges its employees (yes, they can buy it!) is $50.

Well, you're ambitious, I'll give you that :D
As mentioned above, why not try and create a simple web page, see how that goes and how well you take it in (try HTML and CSS to start with). Then decide if it's feasible to take on a project of that scope yourself, or whether it will work out more cost and time effective to hire someone.
Personally, I think it would take you 3-6 months to do it (finger in air guess) from scratch.

iFixit.com carries them and ships to the UK. It also is cheaper than eBay which is rare for proprietary Apple parts.
However, given the obscene prices of Motherboards. It would likely be cheaper to buy a working 2006 Macbook, swap out the hard drive and RAM if needed and sell your current unit as is for parts only on eBay with a good description of the problem and pictures.
Heck it would most likely be cheaper to do the above and upgrade to a Lion compatible Late 2006 Core 2 Duo Macbook. Perhaps even move up to a Santa Rosa or Penryn Macbook. You'd be shocked as to what a defective Macbook will fetch on eBay.

Why don't you search eBay completed auctions instead of having people guess here?
Exactly.
Also bear in mind as with all auctions it is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it at close of sale and on eBay that usually means as little as possible. ;)
Be realistic in your expectations.

I am shocked to see how popular these are becoming. Personally if I got one it would only be an addition to my computers not a replacement for my MBP. Like having the optical drive at my leisure and the better computing power. But then again I do working the IT field. I could easily see how they meet the average consumers needs. None the less I want one.

i was wondering why there wasn't any particular 9/11 thread. i only actually realised what date it was a few mins ago..
on the day..i was in school - we started our lesson at 2.40 - the teacher came in and explained what had happened. i think after a while most staff realised nobody was going to do any work so they shuffled us all (everyone aged 13-18, so around 800 of us) into the main hall and hooked up a projector to the tv.
i remember everything like it was just yesterday. everyone trying to look for an excuse to get off school the next day.. :rolleyes:
one thing that's always really bad with events like this is the uncertainty. nobody ever really has the facts at the start (even the news channels) so your imagination runs kinda wild..

I was listening to NPR on Sunday morning and there was a spoit about the Rolling Memorial (http://www.ebaumsworld.com/rolling911.html) that a fellow had put together for his big rig. He said in the interview the reason he did it was for about 6 months after 9/11 everyone in the US the he met was so polite and friendly to everyone else and now, years later we've forgotten all about it and gone back to our old ways. He wanted to try and remind people of what had happened.

Mine won't install the Win7 Service Pack 1 - it just constantly fails. I've tried every suggestion I've been able to find, mostly from the SevenForums.com site, to no avail.
From the litle bit of research I've done, it seems there are issues with Win7 updates with MBP as well as other machines.
I really think it's a Microsoft issue since it's happening with all different brands of hardware.
I guess we'll just have to wait for MS to release "fixed" updates. :(

It was the perfect solution!! Thank you so much, first I connect the display, once my Apple LED Cinema becomes the main and only monitor, I open the lid of my MBP(with out clicking on Detect Display, and the MBP is "inactive") so the vents can cool down the laptop, I could play perfect for hours!
Thank you
Thank you

I can only see this as a good thing for Apple. They don't make much, if any, money off of iTMS sales. They run the store at cost or near that to fuel the sale of iPods. If some other company (or companies) can offer either (a) similar content for a lower price, or under a different business model (rental type music, for example) that works on FairPlay devices, read: iPods, then it's a reason to go buy MORE iPods. This generates money for Apple without the expense of running iTMS. Alternatively, if (b) a company is offering content that Apple is NOT offering (indie music, other TV shows, etc) then it's incetive for someone who wouldn't otherwise want an iPod to buy one.
The only bad thing for Apple would be if they created a compatible player, so you could buy a low priced music device and then buy iTMS content, which is basically at cost, without paying the so-called "iPod Tax". It doesn't sound like that's what's happening, though.
