P.S. Holy cow! Ebay's fees have really gotten ridiculous!!!
That's no joke, they are extremely ridiculous, I will never again sell anything on eBay, I will continue to just be a buyer, things would be A LOT cheaper if the fees didn't kill the sellers.
Good luck on your sale!

I personally find this resolution independence thing kinda scarey.
Flash movies look awful when they are set to 100% and you view them at a huge screen. And no doubt developers are in for a lot of work if they have to make all their applications 'flexible'

I don't think apple cut Kanye's performance from the webcast just because of a few F-bombs. They cut it because it sucked. Not only in content, but in quality. I can't say I'm a huge hip-hop fan, but I do know a decent performance when I see it. That was more like bad karaoke. Even though I'm sure I wouldn't have liked his performance if it were his whole posse playing on a studio album, the setup they had didn't do him justice.
It was doomed from the start. Live hip hop acts rely heavily on the audience. The one present that day was not ready to "get down" with Kanye more or less sit there and watch it.

Tell that to the Parallels people. Bootcamp isn't the same thing.
True to use Bootcamp you actually have to re-boot the computer. I see what you are saying.

One thing i found strange was that for example. Is that if I email my Mum
and her name is Wendy. Now if I put in Wendy and add the email to
sender it wont send.
But I have to type in Mum has I have that in my address book and then
attach to sender the email will send.
Dont know if your doing that for example.

The use of restraint without launching into an extended Dragonforce or Joe Satriani showoff solo was a good move.
lack of talent maybe haha? i thought a lot of it was very simple but well put together.
The prudent use of double bass on the drums was good as lesser bands would over do the double bass drum beat.
argh i hate that term, i always think of an actual double bass and not the actual term of "double kick".

I bought iWork '05 instead of Office X, and it can't compare. Word is just an easier, more powerful word processor to use. I prefer keynote to powerpoint, but not by much. I would definetely rate word higher than pages, and office higher than iwork. Powerpoint is definetely usable, but use mail+address book+iCal instead of entourage (way better).

I've got about 2 hours to decide yay or nay if I want next day delivery of a new Macbook.
Here is my situation.....
I have a white Macbook from around 2009. The model appears to be called Macbook 4, 1. It works perfectly OK but the battery life is rubbish. Even on my brand new battery it only lasts 3 hours. For work reasons I need to start using my Macbook on trips and away from the house and I need something therefore with a substantial battery life.
I know a lot of people prefer the Macbook Pro but I really enjoy the clean white look of the Macbook. And so I have my eye on the 2010 Macbook. I've found a brand new one for 720.
My requirements for a laptop are:
that is portable/relatively light
All I will run on it are Word, Scrivener, email, internet etc
Decent keyboard
Great battery life
Do you think it's worth me buying the 2010 Macbook? And do you think 720 is a reasonable price for it?
Thanks so much!

We use something very similar for a site I 'm consulting on, if I understand correctly.
We take aerials with a Nikon D200 that has a GPS hooked into it on the aircraft, so every image has a GPS stamp in the EXIF.
Those images get loaded into an SQL database and a bunch of PHP scripts that match the images with a Tele-Atlas map - each location gets loaded up and given its own page depending on location - one main aerial image, a map with a crosshair showing the location, weather based on zip code.
This sounds like fun for iPhoto.

iWork updates are always welcome in my book, but I'm not sure "Lasso" will ever be as successful as Pages or Keynote. With programs like Pages or Keynote, you don't need guaranteed interoperability, but with Excel it's different. With Excel, you are less likely to distribute it in printed form or orally in a presentation, rather you would distribute it electronically. Plus, when it comes to numbers, there is no room for error.
Excel truly is the standard in this case (actually doing a good job), and it will be very hard to convince users to switch.
.
You should note however that the Excel format is very simple to save/load and there really isn't much room for error in loading/saving Excel formatted documents. This is not the case with Word and PowerPoint, hence the sometimes inaccurate conversions.

Not being able to control that thing w/ one hand would be really sketchy, and letting go the ubiquitous scroll wheel, which is a proven interface, would be really unfortunate. I'm willing to say that this may be Apple covering some of its bases from other manufacturers...while Apple continues w/ something resembling the virtual scroll wheel mockups we've seen.

I never thought I'd ever hear this many people justifying a premium on a product. Apple has so much money right now they can pretty much do anything. If you think this is such a noble goal then when you buy your next apple product pay another hundred dollars to help their profit margins. Or so they can build better products.
And don't go looking for discounts or coupons, those hurt profit margins. Lets just raise prices.
this is directed at this whole idea of paying more and not just at the quoted post.
So many people start buying apple after their first product, if they lower the price so that more do this then in the end they may end up with more business.
I think that's a false conclusion from the data. People have been saying what you've been saying for the last 20 years, but the times they've been in the most trouble has been when they've strayed from their classic business strategy.

I might line up at Laval.
Anyone have info on if we can buy just the phone, without a plan, and then jailbreak it so it can use my current rogers plan? iPhone plans are gonna be nuts. I want to be able to just go in and buy it, without signing up for rogers.
Also, is there a limit on how many we can buy? My dad wants one, so I would be buying two...
and can they be payed for with a bank card?

you could always focus your site on the powerpc aspect of macs, since that is your domain name, just an idea though
otherwise, its totally up to you, if you put a lot of effort into the site and everything it might end up being another great mac community, who knows
its up to you in the long run what you want to do with it though....just remember to have fun no matter what, otherwise it really isnt worth it if you ask me

If you've see the keynote stream, then you'll of come across the part where Steve asked some of his employees (marketing, engineer etc..) to stand up and receive a round of applause.
I thought this was quite a nice gesture and it's the first time I have seen this from them.
Good things!! :claps:
Yes, it is a nice gesture-- especially when you imagine how hard of a guy Jobs is to work with/for. But I've seen him ask the crowd to give a hand for the hardworking folks in the trenches of Cupertino on at least 2 other occasions.
