you don't need to have cablevision subscription to use this? i.e. being a customer
You do have to have an account, therefor a customer is required. OR if you have friends/family and you could use their account.

I never thought I'd ever hear this many people justifying a premium on a product. Apple has so much money right now they can pretty much do anything. If you think this is such a noble goal then when you buy your next apple product pay another hundred dollars to help their profit margins. Or so they can build better products.
And don't go looking for discounts or coupons, those hurt profit margins. Lets just raise prices.
this is directed at this whole idea of paying more and not just at the quoted post.
So many people start buying apple after their first product, if they lower the price so that more do this then in the end they may end up with more business.
I think that's a false conclusion from the data. People have been saying what you've been saying for the last 20 years, but the times they've been in the most trouble has been when they've strayed from their classic business strategy.

i think you should slow it down, and maybe pause a bit longer at the end. It rushes - i don't get the chance to absorb it. Maybe him drawing a comma might help convey the million idea. I do like it, but i prefer your existing one - it uses timing really well.
Yeah I know it goes quite rough, I've been working on it as I'm typing now. I know this is very rough so, I'll finish the good one in a bit.
Glad you like it though ;)

Looks like there is still some business to take care of on your end. Let me know when it's done. I am still cosidering the offer.

Put the Windows disk on the ICH (system's SATA ports), as the card cannot dual boot like that in a MP (been tried before and has never worked).
Other than the Windows disk, it will work.
Is this something specifically to do with the Areca 1880 series cards and the Mac Pro 2010 or does this ring true for all other 3rd party RAID controllers?
When you previously said this is because one does not have access to firmware/EFI settings and can't change the boot device I am wondering why this is required, wouldn't there be a loader\boot menu that one can bring up? How would I then select between the primary OSX install on SSD1/Areca and Win 7 on SSD2/ICH if there wasn't a boot menu? Or is it simply some kind of limitation that will not allow the Mac Pro to detect and display in the boot menu stage any drives attached to the Areca controller other than the one that was set as boot drive in OSX?

Thank you for this great site. I'm new here and have a question about VPN.
If I enable VPN to get the cablevision app working will the ipad always use VPN for all data? Meaning will anything I do on the ipad be transferred through my home computer and network?

I am part of a none profit organization and we want to send out an eNews Letter to people interested with our group. I'm in charge of getting this thing off the ground but I'm not sure exactly how to do it. What I want to do is send out an email with nice graphics, pictures, links, and so on and so forth; pretty much like the regular printed kind of news letter but through email. I guess a good example of the kind of news letter I'm talking about would be the ones Apple sends out. What do I need in order to do something like that?

Is the file really a jpeg? Is it CMYK or RGB?
Yeah, it looks like the image is CMYK. I don't know if changing it will fix the problem, but it should be RGB either way.

Ok I did something stupid.
I downloaded the trial of appzapper thinking that I'd actually try to keep my new macbook pro clean and get rid of the "hidden" files associated with other applications. So I downloaded the trial of photoshop cs5 and then zapped it after the trial period was up, and appzapper deleted a bunch of other files associated with adobe. Great, I guess that's what I told it to do.
Now, when I try to open pdfs in Safari (to just view in the browser, and not download them), a dialog box opens asking me where adobe reader is because safari can't read the pdf. I can only download the pdf.
I looked a little on adobe's website and google, but the adobe website wasn't much help and I could only find an apple memo on how to fix it if you're using windows. :(
So I'm turning to my friends in this forum... What can I do to make it better?
Thanks in advance.

With this downloadable market, Microsoft and Sony have gotten it pretty well zipped up. Im not sure about the Wii as I havent really seen it online.
But Microsoft have done big deals with Sega and such, and are porting all of their games to the arcade store. Several gems which make Angry Birds profits look like chump change are available. And Sony have PS1 games available on demand.
I don't think Apple even wants to be a player in the Gaming Industry, not the big one anyways. They are a big competitor in the handheld industry though.
Maybe if Apple launched a console it might make some headway, but launching at this stage would be tricky, it has to forge friendships with developers, get deals cut with them. Last time Apple attempted a push into gaming, they let Halo slip through their fingers.

Awaiting delivery of new Mac Pro with stock 5770 video card. Am I correct in thinking that I can attach three monitors (Samsung) and they'll all screen span? Not mirror, but stretched or shared desktop with the cursor moving from one screen to another.
Also, can I pop in my NVIDIA 8800GT card, that I'm removing from my dead 1st gen. Mac Pro, and expect it to work and play nicely with the installed stock ATI.
Thanks.

So i just got done taking the second hard drive out of my eMac (Traded out and Optical Drive for a HDD for Time Machine some months ago). Well, i remember that "some months ago" i accidentally ripped the out shell off with no regards to the power switch and it still works, though its less sensitive now, or the time (wait, actually same time) when i kinda "broke" the video connector plastic casing that goes from the CRT Board to the Logic Board, a little of some crazy glue or whathaveyou and i managed to fix my way out of that one too. Combine these experiences with that of my first, err second gen iMac G3 (Same bondi blue, yet no infer red sensor) I even tried to over clock it with my late father's help to no avail, but we were able to undo the over clock and that Mac too is still working. But the real reason for all this is to reminisce on how reliable these older Machines are. Currently, my eMac has made it's way to my Mother's desk as i work on her compaq craptop. Today when i took it apart to remove the time machine drive, after reassembly it wouldn't start. Now usually i'd freak out but after learning all the above, and even some more undocumented instances where i messed up, i learned you need patience. These Mac's just don't seem to Quit working. I've had it to where my iMac wouldn't start, and i changed outlets, and even power cords which solved these issues. Thats why these little guys can be temperamental! Jwhathaveyouust today i had to disassemble, make sure a couple things were fastened (Which i basically just unplugged afew wires and replugged em' in) and then reassemble my eMac. I know I can't be the only one - so feel free to share your story! I love these older machines, they're the most reliable even compared to my new pc (I've had more problems with my new pc than my 5 year old mac) and although they can be temperamental, they never seem to quit.

i'd have gone for a 15 inch tibook myself, man, but if you don't need the portability, that eMac is a pretty decent hoss at 1 GHz with that load of RAM. got the 1 Gig on my Tibook myself, it really makes things snappy. VP6 is going to make windows really easy for you to let go of though, i hear it's slow as molasses. and i do mean mole asses.

Yes wav is better than mp3.
I am a huge fan of radio head but opted for the mp3 version. If I feel like I need better quality I will just buy the CD when it gets released a month or so later.

Who was asking why MS has to lockdown Windows with an absurd level of protection via WGA? Here is your answer.
so double the killer delete select all
I am quoting you because I LOVE your signature. That is a classic video that I have shown to many people.
Apple is starting to get a taste of the medicine Microsoft has been dealing with for years. I guess it means that Apple is becoming even more mainstream. Why would people go through so much trouble to crack it if it wasn't so popular?
(And by the way...I also love the new spell checking feature in Firefox 2. Why did it take so long and why did I never realize how much I needed it?)

@ Patrick - Answer for all your questions is YES. But it doesnt work in WebView only.
As previously suggested, maybe there's some character in the URL that WebView doesn't like. The most unusual URL I ever load is:
which works fine.
Maybe try simpler versions of your URL, starting with something basic and working up, adding complexity until it breaks. Start with:
and see if that works.

Aristo, as much as I'd like to pounce on that offer, I feel inclined to suggest you instead set up a SlingBox instead. You surely must have a family member in the states whose TV you can set this up on. The iPad app seems great, but you are confined to viewing on a 10" screen. With a slingbox you can view on your iPad, iPhone, computer and TV. I live in NYC and have a sling box set up at my father's house. I watch HDTV on my 40" Samsung -- On Demand and all that jazz -- for free.
The iPad Optimum is just an auxiliary service I want to set up as an alternative (and on a different TV, with a different cable plan, and in a different county--different programming).
