Sigh, I'm getting the distinct impression that iCal is going to add a bunch of new features and not fix many of the usability problems it already has now. For instance, there is no way to shift several events in time simultaneously, you have to change each one individually. Another is that when you select several events from different calendars and copy and paste them they all turn into the same calendar category.
There are many more problems like these, but I've seen no mention in the preview reports that iCal has done anything to refine the existing features, only that new features are being added. If anyone with a preview can inform me of the contrary I'd be quite happy to hear it.

I'm going to a MFA writing program in the fall; would love to see how this turns out. I use Word exclusively but can't shake the feeling that there's a better way to do things.

My crazy guess is:
iX = iTunes X (not iTunes 10) for Mac, which uses similar software to the iOS Simulator to run your iOS apps on your new (touchscreen?) mac.

It's legalise. It's saying you can't run it in a VM on a device it is already installed on, or a VM on another device than it is installed on. If the VM is another OS (or another Vista license) you're allowed providing it's the only installation.

Yep, and me, I'm NOT coming back from my Logitech MX 1000 Laser. Mighty Mouse is only serving during those 30 or so min a week when the MX (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/features/opticaltopics/AR/EN,CRID=2090) is charging, and that's 30 min too long.
You'll get no argument from me here. Been using the MX-1000 since my PC days and love it to death. My trackpad sees the use isntead of a MM, but same feelings :)
But I can see Steve Jobs announcing the improved bluetooth MM:
It's WWDC and he's in the middle of his stevenote. he 'accidentally hits something' and messes something or other up. He acts angry and yanks the MM away from its cord.

Then he keeps on using it as if nothing happened.
"oh, and we have the new bluetooth mighty mouse available now!

just to clear up the confusion, is this a legal or technical restriction? Can you still do this with the basic edition technically, but illegally. Or are there technical restrictions being applied?
No one will know that until they try installing Windows on a VM.
And, yes, the detection of a VM is simple, given a handful of VM vendors: just look for the VM "hardware" signatures they use. On activation, if any matching hardware is found, pop up a dialog stating "This license of Windows is not applicable to a virtual machine, such as <Parallels or VMWare or Virtual PC>. Activation failed. Please see www.microsoft.com/suckyoudry to enhance your license to allow activation on this virtual machine."

We can't say for certain that they will do this until it happens or someone from MS breaks the code of silence regarding this issue. But they certainly have the means to do it.

Could someone clarify this for me: Aren't hard drives too slow to make use of Thunderbolt anyway? In a typical USB 2.0 external hard drive, what is the bottleneck in speed: The speed at which the hard drive spins, or the USB 2.0 connection? If it's the USB, then why do people even care about the RPM of a drive? If it's the RPM, then isn't USB 2.0 fast enough to run a hard drive at its native speed?

It has gone now, but I found it interesting that it was listing this for my Universal iOS game TiltStorm. It has touch and accelerometer control options, so it wouldn't be suitable as is for a touch control Mac. It is also a portrait orientated game, so isn't going to fill a widescreen monitor.
I think there will be much tighter iOS - OS X integration with Lion. I wonder if it will mean it can run iOS apps, possibly in a virtual environment, with an iOS device acting as the controller. All it would need is an Apple app on the device. The Mac sends the screen image to the device so that you can see where to touch, etc. And gets the control inputs in return.

The release of the white iPhone coming up soon, further proves that the 5 won't be out anytime soon. My guess is maybe 4th QT of this year early 1st QT of next.
In the mean time, might get the white one for my girl, she's still on my old 3G and it hurts me to see her still using that thing.
