Well, with a sample size of 2, my wife bought a white iP3G and I bought a black one...

I am not a gamer but still will not buy an MBA with an i series chip if it means I have to suffer Intel's woefully weak integrated graphics processor. I bought an early 13 inch Ultimate in October and plan to keep it for at least three years. It handles everything I throw at it easily so until and unless it won't do that anymore I don't plan to replace it.

Managed to score a 16GB black wifi iPad. Was hoping for white, maybe I'll get lucky and someone here wants to trade.

If not I guess I'll live. I ended up 'settling' for a black iPhone 4, so this isn't much different.

Glad you ended up getting something the next day.

Let me help you out, since you've got it wrong.

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vendor_(supply_chain)

I never said they weren't a vendor. Let me help you out...try reading the post.

What I was getting at, because a Vendor can provide anything from software to consultants to hardware to designs, is that it's important to note that Samsung doesn't design the parts. They just manufacture them.

And, let's be clear - this is the definition of Vendor:

    vendor
    noun
    1.
a person or agency that sells.

    What don't I get?

How I can get a 3GS for $50? Or how I can get a 3GS for $50 with a $10/month additional line? Please tell me how.

Or why paying 90% of the total cost for a 4 and only getting a 3GS is a good deal.

... I think today, September 14th, was made just for me.

Picked up the Halo: Reach Legendary Edition from Best Buy at midnight.
    http://www.gameguru.in/img/halo-reach-legendary-edition-01.jpg

Already beat the campaign. It was freaking awesome. There's definitely a few things I'd change; but the whole game is just filled with fan service.

Then, this afternoon I finally found a copy of Phantasy Star Portable 2. It came out today, but almost no stores are carrying it. Which is a shame, because I absolutely LOVE the Phantasy Star Online series. I've already put over 10 hours into the demo alone.
    http://www.ffinsider.net/psp-iso/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Phantasy-Star-Portable-2-Demo.jpg

    Then also picked up:

... and finally a bunch of $2.50 copies of KOTOR on Steam as gifts to my friends and some online buddies. It's my favorite game of all time; and for $2.50 EVERYONE should play through it.

I stumbled on to this discussion and continued reading the thread out of fascination.....

This woman clearly has some mental health issues. Aside from the obvious obesity, she clearly may have some physical issues, too, which are only contributing to this overall situation. That is most unfortunate and I really do hope that she is receiving both medical and psychological help, as she certainly is demonstrating that she is very needy, very in need of help outside of herself and her own little world.

It's interesting, isn't it? Onlookers recoil in horror at the sight of a very obese, morbidly obese, beyond-morbidly obese, individual and shudder. Someone who is 400, 500, 600 pounds or more just isn't a lovely sight.

On the opposite end of the spectrum onlookers also recoil in horror at the sight of a very emaciated individual, someone who is skeletal, skin-and-bones..... Someone who is an adult, even a short one, weighing in at 40, 50 or 60 pounds just isn't a lovely sight, either.

Funny how very often the emaciated ones (those suffering from anorexia nervosa, which is a clinical diagnosis outlined and fully described in the psychiatric literature and the DSM -- Diagnostic and Statistical Manual -- issued on a periodic basis by psychiatrists) -- do wind up in a clinical setting, either a medical floor or a psychiatric floor...... It's pretty clear to even the most naive of laypersons that there is something wrong when a person seems to be starving him/herself to death and is presenting as skeletal.

Funny that when someone is going to the opposite extreme and stuffing him/herself to death that it isn't acknowledged in the same way and that very often it is only when someone has really gone to extremes such as weighing several hundred pounds over mere "overweight" status that anyone really takes notice. When someone presents weighing 600, 700, 800 pounds, yes, that is suggestive of the need for clinical intervention, both medical and psychological, isn't it?

On both ends of that spectrum, people die. Anorexics weighing 30 or 40 or 50 pounds die -- they also can die at much higher weights, closer to "normal" weights, too, actually, if the refeeding process and clinical treatment isn't handled carefully. Yes, they can die at so-called "normal" weights due to some underlying psychological issues never being addressed at all or not being addressed successfully even as the weight is seemingly restored.

Undoubtedly many people who have gotten to the point of morbid obesity or beyond that also have died, even during the process of attempting to restore weight to a healthier or more normal level....and again, chances are that this is due to the underlying psychological issues never being addressed or being inadequately addressed.

Sad, isn't it? Going to extremes in any direction is not a good thing and when this occurs it usually is pointing to significant underlying issues in an individual's life which really need to be addressed along with the particular weight situation.

Don't be repelled by the severely obese person you meet or the severely emaciated person you meet; these are real people with real feelings, real issues hiding in there somewhere and the bottom line is that these are people who need help.

How has Apple NOT innovated on the Mac line up?

    - Completely redesigned and absolutely beautiful architecture on the insides of the Mac Pro

Is there anything really innovative there? I don't think so. Yes, MacPro is an example of beautiful engineering, but there's not much innovation in there.

    - MagSafe

Apple was first to use magnetic power-plug in a computer, but the idea of using magnets is definitely not new. Such power-plugs have been used in deep fat fryers for a long time already

    - 24" all in one machine

That's not an innovation, they simply took an existing model and made it a bit bigger. Or do you think that increasing the size of a computer monitor is an "innovation" no-one could come up with? That is a similar "innovation" when Intel releases a 2GHz CPU, and a bit later they introduce a 2.2GHz model. "Whoa, a CPU that is slightly faster then the previous model! I never could have imagined this!"

    - Front Row/apple Remote/iSight in every "portable" Mac

Quite a few laptops ship with media-software and webcams. Dunno bout remotes though.

    - Two finger right clicking on trackpad

Is that what can be considered an "innovation" these days? Apple has two finger clicking for the sole reason that they do not have a second mouse-button. PC-laptops have no need for that feature, since they all have 2 or more buttons right from the start.

I will agree with you there but however, if apple want to succeed in that area they need to offer more than 2hours(at best) of video playback. Look at Creative users are getting close to 5-6 hours out video playback while still have close to 20hours of audio. And I am getting close to 9 hours out of my Cowon PMP with a 4in screen and clost to 18 out of audio. Additionally apple needs to support to add more video support like divx which is popular enough to have some dvd players to support it and even have players just desinged to play that formart. Just my 2cents

I think the changes to the latest Apple TV is a sign of where Apple wants to be headed. The next Apple TV will be even smaller and come free when you buy a Mac, iPad, or iPhone. Wait and see! Just like giving e-mail away helps Google's ecosystem, so does getting Apple TVs into people's houses help Apple's ecosystem.I want to believe.

Then again we are talking about the company that is nickel and diming for nearly every formerly included accessory now.

I'm still wondering what is good about this. I see it as a bad thing. More viruses, more crap shareware, lesser quality products.

Spoken like someone who doesn't have a clue about computers. Congratulations.

I work for GE and we are all Dell (unfortunately). Dell laptops, desktops, servers. Everybody gets Dell and nothing else. Can you imagine a company wide policy (300k workers). While the stuff breaks pretty quickly (my latitude laptop had cracks on it within 2 months of use), I was told that the enterprise service plans that Dell offers are unbeatable. The will swap stuff overnight and make sure you have something to work with. If Apple were to have a good service plan for enterprise, I think they will get more takers. Until then, Apple will be more popular with consumers and not enterprise.

Don't confuse Dell consumer service plans with enterprise. Enterprise is their bread and butter.

Dell has several levels of enterprise service. If they are looking at a company who is willing to drop their sorry butt they will upgrade their support contract to a higher level for free. I've seen this first hand.

I'm interested to see what ends up in this refresh. My MacBook Pro is great, but a good base iMac option could be appealing. My guesses:

    Base 21.5"
    Quad Core i7 (2.2GHz?); 2x2GB 1333 DDR3; 640GB 7200RPM HDD; ATI Radeon HD 6670; Thunderbolt, ditch Firewire?; 1920x1080

    Fully Loaded 27"
3.4GHz Quad Core i7; 4x4GB 1333 DDR3; 512GB SSD & 2TB 7200 RPM HDD; ATI Radeon HD 6870 (1GB); 2560x1440I think dual core i7 or i5 is more likely for the base 21.5". It's great there will be newer machines. I won't be upgrading my 4-month-old base. Instead, I'd get a SSD, 128GB or 160GB would do fine for me. Waiting for the prices to fall down.

And you know what else matters? The fact that when Steve Jobs gets up on stage and talks about music, you can tell that he's really passionate about it. He's not just up there to sell tunes. He's a music lover and other music lovers relate to that and appreciate it. It's infectious. And it matters. I've seen MS and other companies talk about music (most often while wearing a suit which is enough to stop you right there) and the way they talk--there's no passion. You can tell that they view it at arms-length, like some kind of commodity, and surround their efforts with insulting marketing campaigns that play down to the lowest common denominator and that does not help.

I don't think Apple has anything to worry about. As long as they keep going, they're fine. I see no reason to think otherwise.

    EXACTLY!

Also, add me to the list of users that have seen an XP blue screen—multiple times actually. It all depends on how much work you make your computer do. Of course it exists, even if it were impossible, I'm sure they'd put it in as an easter egg!

Relax dude, your safe. You said that you used the mens room. What's wrong, did I actually guess your bra size?

And I'm not? Cut the bullying crap, you obviously have some kind of personal issue with any kind of gender-bending.

It's not your bathroom. You don't own it, you don't have any real say in who gets to use it. Just like you don't own your daughter and don't have the right to beat anyone up on her behalf for any perceived slight. If I ever hypothetically made another woman genuinely uncomfortable in a restroom, chances are I'd remove myself from the situation at least until she had left, that's a concession I'd make to *her*, not you. The discussion came up at my university a while back and the most telling thing was that the only people who took issue with trans people using appropriate loos were men, I wonder why that is.

Do you really actually think that's why we do it just to perv on women in the restroom? Do you have any idea what we go through to be who we are?

Why are you scared by us? Why do we make you uneasy in yourself enough that you lash out with lame insults, make threats and refuse to acknowledge this girl's gender? I've got news for you, we walk among you, you don't often see us, but we do and we've been progressively gaining more and more rights. There's no place for attitudes like yours in the world today, as you can see your views are not popular in this thread and it's not because everyone who disagrees with you is trans themselves.

Don't forget, ALL consoles lose money when they first ship.

Nintendo never sold any console at a loss.

I tend to agree with you, but that is just business, and Microsoft is good at it. If we want to point fingers, point them at the consumers. The only reason Microsoft still pours money into things is because people will still buy their products. Microsoft also uses their position of having a large amount of disposable cash. If their product sucks, people won't buy it, and Microsoft suffers.

If that were true, Microsoft would never have been able to survive after Windows 95.

If a product sucks but almost everyone else is using it, most people will use it too.
