The difference is with a client I can show them a prototype, or mock up, prior to having to put all the resources into creating a fully functioning app.
I don't know about you, but I have done it many, many times, and I have never encountered a client who doesn't want at the end to tweak and add and tweak and sometimes reject, then conditionally approve, their way to deployment.

You have to admit this thread is really funny.
How many times have we heard Apple lovers say it's not all about "specs" and the general public are not interested in "specs" and rubbish others when they say how much better spec their PC might be.
And yet, now that Apple has the high specs, all of a sudden THIS IS the most important thing.
No average consumer is ever going to notice the difference between USB3 and Thunderbolt, in fact USB3 will be better for the general user experience as it's backwards compatible.
But now, sod the typical consumer, the only thing that matters now is specs.
Oh, you have to laugh don't you :D
It is par for course.
Just like we didn't need quad core cause it was too hot for no benefit. Or we didn't need 3G in the 2007 iPhone cause WiFi was good enough. Or that we don't need LTE cause HSDPA+ is fast enough.

Creative is only worth $500 million, how come Apple didn't just buy them?
Because... then you will have to beef-up the reclycling program to get rid of Creative's garbage products... the clean up process will cost more than the big bucks that Apple is paying now.

Anyway, I think too much of the focus is on the technical details of this mysterious Airport Express box. I'm wondering if Apple's "Big New Thing" isn't so much the gadgets, but the notion of entertainment moving from being something you have shovelled to you from your cable/satellite guy, to a true a la carte system, delivered via the Internet.
What's interesting about the rumours are that they point at products and services that build an infrastructure for something, not products that are particularly interesting by themselves. I can stream media to TVs already (albeit with cables.) I can buy movies, hell, the pr0n industry has pretty much pioneered in this realm and made the concept provable. Less controvertially, there have been attempts to sell movies online serveral times over the last few years. These are all products that already exist.
Apple's products may well actually turn this into a general collection of concepts into a major new drive, in much the same way as DVDs have changed the way we watch TV, and DVRs, and, indeed, twenty-thirty years ago, cable and satellite did.
It'll be interesting to see if they succeed. Don't be surprised if most of the coverage after the event is negative. The real test will be in the coming years.

Shame that everyone is going to jump to conclusions rather than work out why this is stored.

I hope that the iTV would someday get DVR capabilities like saving episodes on TV. Also, I'd like iPods to have radios & Airport built-in too.

If apple paid 100 million, they should then sue their lawyers for fraud. This suit would not even come close to 100 million.
Do you mean the cost of litigation or the potential award had Apple lost the case? It does seem like Apple wasn't very confident that they could win the case...after all Creative did file the patent before Apple, Creative was awarded the patent, and Apple was denied their patent. The iPod has brought Apple billions of dollars in revenue...a judgment against them could easily have cost them much more than $100 million.

I didn't say that at all. What I said is that it's been documented throughout history that people, animals, plants, and any other form of life on Earth go through phases where large groups die off. Yes, we are intelligent, educated animals with intellect and compassion, and it is therefore our job to try and curtail those deaths that are unfiar and inhumane. Nobody in their right mind would argue that.
What I'm saying is that when a group of people emerge (not ALL the African people - namely the group of African men who have decided that it is their duty to rape, impregnate, and pilage to their hearts content) who commit crimes against humanity, and then start to wreap the whirlwind, it's "natural" for those people to eventually meet their end - whether it be natural or otherwise. There are an AWFUL lot of African people who are compeltely innocent and in many ways helpless and it is our duty as leaders of the free world to help in any way we can. Of course - that's obvious.
But we also have to leand creedence to the idea that there's a portion of the African culture that is too deeply rooted for us to change, and that has to be allowed to die out on its own. Not the people themselves - the notions that are ingrained in that culture that have caused this problem. Those notions need to die off, and that will only happen in time.

I bought a movie (Good Will Hunting) to try out the whole shabang and see the quality for myself. The 1.5Gb download took 6+ hours on my crappy adelphia cable modem (it feels slower every day, what am I paying 50 bucks a month for again?). I was satisfied with the image quality on my 20" Dell widescreen, but sitting at my desk to watch a movie instead of my couch isn't the movie experience I'm going for. Sadly, I probably won't be buying another iTunes movie.
Not that anyone cares.
Imagine how long the download would be if the movie was high def instead of 640 x 480.

this is crazy....we as a society have become too politically correct. Someone breaks into your house and gets injured, he can sue you for injuries....you trip and fall on a slippery surface in a mall or restaurant, you can sue, despite the clear sign that says, "caution, slippery surface", Or the famous one, suing because your cup of coffee was hot and you spilled it on yourself. My goodness....Here we have a robbery attempt. The robbers were armed. Now this private security guard see's what is happening, and steps in to stop them. What is he suppose to do, pretend to be like Obama and try to open up negotiations with them? "please robbers, stop what you are doing, it is against the law?" Meanwhile, the robbers are shooting at him...So what if a robber got shot in the head. It is one less criminal to deal with. And what is to say that he was aiming for his head? It might have just been a lucky shot. Will he have to live with that? Of course, but at the end of the day, he was just doing his job. It would be like joining the military not expecting to ever go to war or see combat...

I also believe that items have to only be writeable by system if going to interact with system level processes due to unix DAC; I haven't confirmed this yet. Makes sense?
