Many would be surprised at the excellence of CFRP. It has ideal properties for use in laptops. Very light, strong, great looking and extremely durable. It can be finished in a natural matte or shiny. Paint is also an option which is every bit as durable due to the way it bonds with CFRP. When it comes right down to it, their are several choices for Apple.

Yes, the much needed TRIM support. Also actually give choice or full disclosure of what SSDs they put in machines.
Would like to see Apple buy or at least integrate Parallels Desktop for Mac and do away with bootcamp or just keep it as a secondary option.
Run just about any OS needed on the Mac – faster and more efficient on SSD drive. That would be a good selling point to many.
FDE option with SSD option would be superb. Update TimeMachine Cap with the FDE option, or put the whole thing in the cloud with FIPS 140 compliance.
Oh, and 8GB standard on the Parallels option without up scaling price beyond what user can do on own.
Option to extend AppleCare past 3 years at reasonable price, with hardware trade-in and OS upgrade plan.

Well, considering Core Solo is bound to be much cheaper than Core 2 Duo, I'd say that's a good COST reason to keep it.I doubt there will be much difference. If fact I doubt Core Solo will continue to be made beyond this Winter.

As I recall, many 6GB ram kits were having issues on the Late 08 Macs, so OWC started selling verified kits that were slightly more expensive but guaranteed to work. So I guess I'm saying beware, and test it out fully. If that kit does work for you, please share your experience. Maybe I'll pick up a pair too.

I see that there are lots of angry people over there. Especially because of Outlook in this Office 2011. I don't use Outlook, but Word and Excel are my tools. I can say that i got almost no annoyances when working with them...

I have two concerns for Cond� Nast's iPad publications.
1) They are big and appears to be in image files, not htmls. They may look beautiful on iPad/iPad2 but what will happen when we have a retina screen iPad3? It'll be 1/4 the original size, scaling will make it look ugly.
Does it not depend the PPI that the image is ? If they have made the image at a PPI that the the same as the iPad 1/1.5, then you may have a point. However, if they made the image at a higher PPI, say 300+, then your point is moot.

Has anyone experienced frequent Indesign CS2 crashes since updating to 10.4.8 on an Intel Mac? I have a brand new Mac Pro (with 4gb of Ram) here at work and I would say that all the Adobe apps work about as fast as they did on the dual 2ghz G5 Powermac that I had before I got this Mac Pro but now after about 2 months of usage my indesign crashes on me several times a day. I'm just curious if 10.4.8 introduced some kind of compatibility issue with indesign because it didn't crash on me in 10.4.7 (though it is noticeably faster now in 10.4.8 when its not too busy crashing).

Your biggest problem is that you gave them your computer. Never give it to anyone, just say ok I'll stop and be done. They cannot make you give it to them, they aren't the police. It is their rules on their own network so you should follow the rules and if they ask you to stop then stop. Just remember, don't give up your computer. I hope you get it back and all goes well.

It's not an iPhone 5, but instead the white iPhone 4 coming this summer.
- iPhone 4 just came out for Verizon
- Availability for white iPhone 4 parts on gray market steadily keeps increasing
- Apple is both changing their release schedule for iPhone (release near xmas with other updated devices), and possibly giving more time to get through the rumored manufacturing issues

I just tested my Mac's ability to sleep. It was REALLY slow the first time but it worked. It never had any sleep issues before. :confused:

Rocketman, does that mean that you're going to the FCP Power Tools workshop or the keynote, or both? I actually do have a black sweatband that I could wear if I remember to bring it. I plan on getting in line for the keynote early, so look for the 18 y/o idiot wearing the black armband.

I for one look forward to iTV, which if it does about what I wish, my parents will be getting so they can actually use DVR for a change.
My second "look for" item is a video iPod able to view videos in some real and helpful way.
My third look for item is the ApplePhone simply because that means Apple will have sensational financial performance in 2007 and be on the road to widespread mobile broadband deployment in 2008.

As it still has a second socket, it must use Xeon 5000-series CPUs. The CPU in the 3797$ SP configuration costs 1663$ alone, whereas the CPU in 2499$ Mac Pro costs 294$.
The Dell CPU costs about $800.
Why is it so damn hard to get it that Mac Pro is overpriced compared to e.g. Dell's offerings?! :confused:
