It now redirects me to the local gizomodo.com.au version.
If I wanted to read about irrelevant local Australian stories (ie, Telstra has a new LED billboard in Melbourne, like I give a toss) I'd pick up a newpaper or visit gizmodo.com.au (which I never do), not gizmodo.com.
I really really hope this isn't the future of the internet - geographical restrictions, but it appears to be the tip of an oncoming iceberg. It's bad enough already that I now have to endure irrelevant geographical ads for Australian banks and airlines instead of topic-relevant (ie computer equipment) ads when I visit international computer sites. Now I cant even visit international computer sites?
Ditto when I do google searches now, most of the links are fairly useless local Australian ones instead of the more relevant international ones.
Is this the power of Google/advertisers now at work to change the face of the internet and rebuild borders to isolate us all again? ie, direct users to local geographical sites so as to maximize advertising dollars - ie instead of directing the ads, they are now directing the users?
PS. What happens when someone outside of Australia tries to load gizmodo.com.au, do they get diverted to their own country's site as well?

Agree with Nattress or Compressor solutions for conversion to PAL. Can use Flip4Mac to convert to avi.

So Intel's graphics are good enough for the 13" MBP that can support an external 30" display, but not for the MBA? Most LV/ULV Sandy Bridge cpus have the same HD3000 graphics as regular Core i5/i7 cpus used in the MBP. Sure they are clocked slightly lower, but it is probably already the case for the 320M.
I don't see how Thunderbolt will hurt for external drives. If anything you'll get access to faster drives (RAID HDD, SSD (http://www.lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?id=10549)) it's better than what you can today with only USB2 ports.
I mean that the iteration of Thunderbolt will hurt for me, by getting a MBA now with out it.
The HD3000 is slightly less powerful than the 320m GPU. So with a higher resolution display on the MBA the HD3000 would perform worse than the 320m currently does? This is my thinking and why I think Apple didn't increase the resolution of the current MBA instead of suffering a major decrease in GPU performance. I'm thinking that the Intel graphics performance will degrade much quicker at higher resolutions than the Nvidia does.

Hey, can anyone give any recommendations on a Bluetooth mouse? Can I use a Bluetooth mouse for both a Mac and PC? What is the distance you can use a mouse? Anybody know of any future products coming out that use Bluetooth?

Absolutely not, because this is not what is happening.
What is claimed here is a method of adding the "FairPlay" DRM to music from other stores than iTMS, so that companies other than Apple can sell music with DRM that can _only_ be played with iTunes or an iPod (that is, 80 percent of the market) instead of selling music with Microsoft DRM as they do now (which plays on the other 20 percent of the market).
As an example, the Beatles could use this to sell all their music on the Internet with DRM to iPod owners, without going through the iTunes Music Store. They could make more money that way; for the iTunes user or iPod owner there would be no difference.
Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

I've wondered about this for a while. and I would even pay to have all the chat history for my MSN (@hotmail.com) account!
I think this could be possible, because some messages get stored when you're offline and you receive them when you log in. so why don't they keep them all in their servers?
can anyone help with this?
p.s. what's actually stored on my macbook is only 6 months old, but I want all 9 years worth of it.
p.p.s. by any case, does Facebook chat messages get stored too?

You can't boot OS X from zfs, you can't use spotlight very well on zfs, quite a lot of applications/games won't work properly because zfs isn't case-insensitive and there are some more small problems. Zfs is great for a fileserver and various other kind of servers but in a Mac it's still hfs+ that is the best option (even though zfs is a much better filesystem).
We are well aware of this.
The boot drive is NOT going to be ZFS based, Mac OS X cannot boot from ZFS anyway.

What did you read and where?
I don't remember the paper, but my friend gets it delivered in Draper.
It said you guys were up playing games on a projector and smoking meat or something. Sounded like a pretty good time lol.
I showed up at 4:15PM and was behind about 900+ people!

There's a blast from the past: "Simple Finder" is back!
I'd like to see the "Advanced Finder" created. Especially one that supports "Cutting" of files.

I need a firewire DVD R/W as, in case of need, I could do the boot by means of it, as my Mac mini is a PowerPC one (I read that only Intel Mac can boot by means of USB optical drives).
By the way, what do you think about the Hamlet HEXD5UA-D DVD R/W ? It has both firewire and usb.
are you in the uk or ireland? it uses 220 power. I would not be able to comment on it I don't think it sells in usa we have 110/120 power.

Thanks. I tried but those 'ruby' by teamsserver is still taking up all the cpu usage. Have any idea how I can get them out?
I would kill them. The "Off" switch should prevent anything wiki related from starting up again.

RAM is very cheap right now. If you can or are interested in doing so, I'd say make the jump to 4GB and go with 64-bit. I'm sure Auto-CAD 2012 could easily take advantage of the extra RAM. Plus, Mac OS X loves RAM, so both OS's would benefit. I have a MacBook Pro 4.1 as well, and one of the first things I did was upgrade the RAM to 4GB. I noticed a nice increase in speed from 2GB in both OS X and Windows. Windows 7 64-bit runs flawlessly for me. I'd highly recommend going this route.

Looks like a lot if iPads today.
And what makes you say that? Are you in line or have you talked to somebody on the phone?

Yes, but we don't exactly know when that will come out. Look for it AFTER Vista (if that can happen) ;)
I would be willing to bet big money that MS Office Universal Binary is ready to go right this minute.
There is no way Monkey Boy Balmer is going to let the Mac Business Unit release it before Vista and the New Windows' version of Office!
Can you imagine the press release - "Well we are pushing back the release dates of Windows Vista and Office. We want to make sure that it is absolutely perfect. However, we are releasing Microsoft Office Universal Binary for the Apple OS X operating system". It just ain't gonna happen

are you using version 1 or version 1.0.1 of cablevision app?
Coleman and others - this temp sync will work and as a side benefit you won't be able to update in itunes :) I tried it few times with my friend and shared app works just fine. Only issue I see is CV closing this hole by disabling older version of software from accessing the network. until that happens your idea will work
Forgot one thing. There is no need to drive or go anywhere. This can be done remotely via teamviewer application. Its free and works fast.
Just need to know what devices are needed to make it work (Computer to iPad, iPad to computer or computer to computer)
Just want to be sure of what you did
Thanks

I think that's a much more likely possibility. It's smart to patent anything you invent, even if you have no intention of using it for anything.
I agree with you 100% remember ipod mini in the laptop thing, also side lighting on the macs etc..... there are hundreds and hundreds of unused apple patents

That is very sad.
I would not be surprised if that show was the most syndicated around the world.I also have to wonder if it did help shape American culture at the time, even if it was just a little bit.
I also wonder how many black leather jackets it helped sell :D
