They said they have some 16 gig wifi, and some verizons in stock but no at&t's. I don't think they have enough for the whole line though.

And by "copied Palm" of course you mean "patented themselves back before Feb. 2010."

    http://www.tuaw.com/2010/02/03/apple-granted-patent-for-touch-sensitive-bezel/

    http://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/2010/02/apples-ipad-may-gain-an-intelligent-bezel-in-the-future.html

He's referring to inductive charging, not intelligent bezel, if I am correct.

    FTA:

While the art weve seen shows some form of inductive or touch charging, our sources cant confirm whether or not Apples working on its own version of cable-free juicing. Theres also a swipe area shown in the drawing which appears to be on the bottom and / or top of the device that could very well be an NFC point, but thats pure speculation on our part.

Wondering why they don't if the hardware is there and the network supports it already.

Because the hardware is in the CDMA phone on Verizon. The AT&T iphone 4 doesn't have the same chip. If the iphone 5 does, it's still up to apple and at&t to enable it.

Do you still think it's ugly?

I think all iphone mockups are ugly. Only the official iphone renders and pictures on apple's website seem to do it justice. I hated the iphone 4 from giz's pictures even.

the new consumer MacPro tablet... 1" thick, 15" widescreen, touch or non-touch inputs (u choose) bluetooth keyboard included (virtual keyboards suck). Built in stand. Face of device is ALL SCREEN with very narrow margins. Face is ballistic glass, tough and virtually scratchproof. Trackpad like the current notebooks, but virtual.

$1500. 2.0 core duo. ($500 more for dual core duo.) 2 gig ram standard.

Steve also announces CS available NOW.

Edit: Frosted ballistic glass. And the entire front is imbedded with some sort of 'invisible' solar panel array so that the device self charges when off (or maybe even when it is on?)

You must have seen a lot of people having fits to be able to make such a confident judgement. Personally, having only lived with a severe epileptic in the household for nine years, I would unhesitatingly defer to you expertise. What do I know?

We can't have an opinion (which is shared by others) it seems. Yeah, what exactly do you know?

Think iPad 2 with the "L" shape stand as the new iMac. Ditch the Optical Drive, not needed anymore considering its takes up space and is hardly ever used by the majority. :)

I may not be in the majority, but I use mine a great deal.

Yes and it states "a touch screen display" "For multifunctional handheld devices".

"The method includes sensing an object spaced away and in close proximity to the electronic device. The method also includes performing an action in the electronic device when an object is sensed." Meaning when I'm close to touching the darn thing do/show this when this is happening on screen.

    Did you read it?
    http://www.macsimumnews.com/index.php/archive/part_1_apple_files_proximity_detector_in_handheld_device_patent_application/

    EDIT: Still not "touchless" either....
"For example, when using a touch sensing device along with a proximity detection system, advanced gestures may be performed that combine proximity gestures along with touch gestures."

UW, sounds like reflecting the fingers to the screen ...

Really? How come I never saw anything like the iPhone GUI before 2007.

Or are you suggesting Apple invented the smart phone :D

They did not invent it but dam they made it hip and cool which if you look around has everyone doing the "Me Too" dance. :)

The point, though, is that the Sandy Bridge MacBook Air will have a much better CPU, but a worse GPU unless Apple does something surprising.

Yeah ! Going with some brand new AMD's Llano APU. :D

Right, and Cocoa isn't the slightest bit bloated? (can you say runtime messaging and binding overhead?)

I'm not saying that the actual virtualization should be done in Cocoa (ha yeah right), but the GUI definitely should. Parallels takes way too long to launch, and the GUI sucks.

Plus, do you really think a Qt C++ wrapper around Carbon is faster than direct Cocoa calls?

I just want a nice documented-based Cocoa app that behaves like a Mac app, with a fast virtualization at its core :)

Enough to officially brand this as the "Pork Iphone", for sure.

While these Sandy Bridge processors are considerably faster in lab benchmarks, they offer no discernible real-world improvement for most users. Having used a MacBook Pro with a C2D and then one of the new Sandy Bridge, I couldn't tell the difference.

As MacBook Air owners know, it's all about the SSD speed for improving the experience for everyday users.

Very true. Plus, turbo mode is mostly marketing hype. It should be called turbo fraud. It doesn't work the way it's advertised, ie, most of the time when you need it to. So, what you're really getting is a 1.4 GHZ computer that's advertised as a 2.3 GHZ one. That's taking marketing hype to the extreme. The only way I would buy a computer with one of Intel's turbo hyped CPU's is if the bottom score met my needs. I would never rely on the hyped theoretical upper score in making my decision and in this case 1.4 GHZ doesn't cut it for me.
